On September 1, 2019, Hurricane Dorian barreled through Great Abaco as a monster Category 5 hurricane. In many parts of the island there was catastrophic destruction. Southworth Development’s Abaco Club on Winding Bay acted to provide urgent and immediate assistance to the people of Great Abaco Island through gathering donations and organizing various forms of support, including branding and refitting a mobile medical unit to provide health care services to residents of the island. I had the pleasure of designing their logo, entire brand identity, and also the exterior of their mobile unit.
The project's branding drew inspiration from The Abaco Club, incorporating a vibrant color palette reminiscent of the ornamental illustration of the Abaco Parrot, indigenous to the Bahamas. This palette not only evoked the spirit of the region, but also served as a symbol of resilience and vitality.
Central to the branding was the integration of a pulse and a heart icon, strategically chosen to swiftly and clearly communicate with individuals affected by the hurricane. These icons conveyed a message of support, compassion, and solidarity during times of crisis, embodying the project's commitment to aiding those in need.
